Lilley-Kate LOVES... LOVES LOVES LOVES to read...

While we were at the grocery store we stopped to check out the "Clearance Carts" in the back corner of the store...

And we found THIS GEM amongst all the books piled in a "Clearance Book Cart"...  We couldn't resist the beautifully illustrated cover and title...

STRAWBERRY HILL by MARY ANN HOBERMAN

It's the wonderful story of a Jewish girl named ALICE (although she prefers to be called "Alli") who moves due to her father's work to a new neighborhood during the Depression... the friends she leaves behind in her old neighborhood and the new friends she makes... and the lessons she learns during her 4th grade year in school...

It took ME all of 2 days to read...

I like to read some of the books that Lilley-Kate reads... she enjoys them so much... and we have fun talking about the stories, our favorite parts, the different characters, lessons in the stories...kinda our own little "book club"... LOL

If you have an avid reader going into 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this as a Summer Read!!!!

*SIGH*... Because I DON'T like CHANGE...

But change CAN be good... right?

Well... that depends...

On what?

If it's a CHANGE in the weather... then THAT is good...

Yep... I know how the warm weather makes you HAPPY...

But if it's say... a NEW & IMPROVED change... then THAT is NOT good...

OH... like the NEW & IMPROVED Multi-Grain PRINGLES you like so much?

You mean the NEW & IMPROVED Multi-Grain Pringles I USE to like so much?

Um... yes... THOSE PRINGLES!!! 

So now you see WHY I DON'T LIKE CHANGE??? 

NOT NORMAL... in a GOOD way!!!

Growing up in the SOUTH (my parents didn't get AC until after I had left the house)... I have a LOVE of HIGH TEMPS (and yes... HUMIDITY)... AAAAaaaaaahhhh... HEAT... it makes me feel GOOD... warms my bones... motivates me... makes me HAPPY...

The temps here were about 25* ABOVE NORMAL for this area this week... and I was TOTALLY FINE with it...

SUPER Savings!!!...

I have ALWAYS been a "couponer"... but I wouldn't call myself an "EXTREME" couponer... at least not by the "official" definition... Yes... I use LOTS of coupons... Yes... I have a "stockpile" (although we have yet to devote an ENTIRE ROOM to our "overstock")... YES... I have gotten many "FREEBIES" using coupons... but again... not to what I would consider the "EXTREME"...


THIS makes me happy... almost GIDDY...


Our local grocery store was running a 10/$10 sale week... and it just so happened to include "our brand" of toothpaste (along with "our brand" of spaghetti sauce)... I just so happened to have COUPONS for the TOOTHPASTE... $1.00 off 2 tubes... well... THAT is like BOGO FREE!!! (or .50 a tube)... CAN'T BEAT THAT DEAL... so off we went to the grocery store...

10 tubes of CREST toothpaste... 6.4 oz. tube... for $5.00!!!!

Coupon Fairy... "ing"

I LOVE using COUPONS... and I LOVE "Fairying" coupons... ESPECIALLY when they are as good as THIS one is!!! I HOPE this made someones gift buying a little more pleasant!

I actually had 8 of these coupons... so was able "fairy" the whole shelf!!!

Times They Are a Changin'...

We had our first "snow"... white stuff fell from the sky... but THANKFULLY didn't linger on the ground... I fear it's a "pre-show" of what's to come!

6 BIG BLACK TRASHBAGS have been filled... my "FAVORITES" list got (DRASTICALLY) pared down on the computer... my skin got "itchy"... I HAD to "clean house"...

When my OLDEST was little (around 9ish) he couldn't watch AIRBUD without busting out crying... 14 years later... not much has changed

We've switched over to a "Fall Menu"... soups, potpies and casseroles... and YUMMY CHILI (just spicey enough to give ya the sniffles!)

I was in the store the other day and had to stop short... WAS THAT CHRISTMAS MUSIC I WAS HEARING over the PA system? YEP...

It feels like we go to bed Sunday night... wake up and it's FRIDAY already... time didn't seem to FLY so fast when I was younger!!!

More days than not lately I just stand here DUMBFOUNDED and think to myself "WHERE did my SWEET GIRL go"???
